Our feelings always tumble forward or backwards. If you move your hand to the right or left, You will find out your feeling’s direction of the motion. You can freeze it and turn it in reverse. Here is an exercise to change bad memories.
- Recall a memory that you want to stop thinking.
- Notice the submodalities such as the quality of the picture and sounds, etc.
- Freeze-frame the picture and shrink it in size.
- Skip to the end of the memory and freeze-frame and grab it, really quickly make the frame white.
- Repeat step 3-4 three times.
- See yourself at the end of the movie and run it backwards. Seeing the sights & sounds move to the back and spin the feelings in your body in the opposite direction.
- When you try to think this bad memory, the more you do this, the harder you remember it.
